A true haven dedicated to comfort and conviviality, the Moncloud sofa, designed in 2023 by Patricia Urquiola for Cassina, rethinks upholstered furniture design from a resolutely circular perspective. Its wooden structure lifts the upholstered volumes off the floor, giving the whole piece the lightness of a cloud, while the fabric cover wraps around the sofa's contours, forming a distinctive fold that enhances its silhouette. At the heart of the Moncloud, a metal frame with elastic webbing is dressed in quilted recycled PET fibre padding that embraces the backrest and armrests like a soft, enveloping comforter. The seat cushions, also made of recycled PET, feature a variable-density insert in a polyurethane made from recycled polyols, designed to be easily separated from the other materials. With no glued parts, the sofa can be fully disassembled at the end of its life, and its removable cover makes everyday care easy.
